Aglaonema Pistachio Pink

Aglaonema 'Pistachio Pink' is a modern, highly decorative cultivar belonging to the Araceae family. This tropical perennial is derived from Aglaonema species native to the tropical and subtropical regions of Asia, specifically Southeast Asia. Cultivated for centuries across Asia, these plants are traditionally associated with good luck and prosperity in the home. Professionally classified as an excellent choice for low maintenance indoor decoration, it is celebrated for being one of the most forgiving, durable houseplants available. The primary ornamental feature is its foliage, characterized by large, glossy, oval leaves. The variegation patterns show a delicate, exotic play of colors, blending gentle shades of pale green, pistachio, cream, and white or yellowish spots. This variegation is anchored by a vibrant pink coloration running directly through the veins and stems. To prevent the soft pink tones from fading and to maintain vivid variegation patterns, the plant should be placed in a well-lit area, away from direct sun which scorches the leaves. 

Growth Habit

This tropical perennial features a slow to medium growth rate, developing into a compact, bushy, and rounded growth form. It maintains an organized, upright structure suited for tabletops or shelves. Depending on maturity, the plant achieves a steady indoor height ranging between 30 cm and 50 cm or more, growing sustainably within a well drained,  compost mix.

Watering Requirement

Water Aglaonema ‘Pistachio Pink’ moderately. Thoroughly water the plant, then allow the top few centimetres or the top layer of soil to dry before watering again. Keep the soil lightly moist, but never soggy, as overwatering can cause root rot. In lower-light positions, the plant may grow less and require less water. Use a well-draining medium to support healthy roots and prevent excess moisture retention.

Ideal Placement

The ideal position is an indoor location with bright, indirect light to fully maintain the vibrant pink variegation. It is perfectly suited for living rooms, offices, or low-maintenance spaces, and tolerates partial shade or lower light conditions. Maintain stable indoor temperatures between 18°C and 27°C, ensuring protection from cold drafts. It thrives with extra humidity; place it near other plants or mist the glossy leaves regularly.

While it tolerates indoor humidity and dry air, it responds exceptionally well to added moisture or regular leaf misting. However, care must be taken to prevent common water-related issues; keeping the soil constantly soggy or waterlogged will quickly lead to destructive root rot, which causes the stems to soften and leaves to drop. If you notice lower leaves yellowing or falling off, check the moisture levels immediately, as this is a primary sign of overwatering. This cultivar is strictly toxic if ingested, meaning it must be safely positioned out of reach of children and domestic pets. The growth is supported by a well-draining houseplant compost mixed to maximize airflow to the roots.
