Place Aglaonema ‘Pride of Sumatra’ in bright, indirect light for the best colour, especially in medium bright indoor settings. It tolerates lower light and can be kept away from bright windows, but strong light improves foliage colour. It prefers a warm environment of 18–29°C, moderate to high humidity, good drainage, and protection from cold drafts. Suitable indoor positions include homes, offices, and bright indoor plant displays.

Due to the presence of insoluble calcium oxalate crystals in its sap, the entire plant is toxic to pets and humans, causing oral pain and irritation if chewed or ingested.
